Mexico blast kills 7 and injures 15 in fireworks incident. 1

An explosion at an illegal fireworks workshop in the state of Morelos, near Mexico City, resulted in the tragic loss of seven lives and left 15 others injured. The incident occurred on Monday night at a private residence used for manufacturing fireworks. Photos show that the house was completely destroyed due to the severity of the blast in the town of Totolapan. Workshops creating fireworks at family-owned, smaller scales like this one are quite common in Mexico and often used in religious and community celebrations. Unfortunately, explosions are also frequent, leading to the loss of many lives in recent years. Legal production facilities must adhere to specific standards and obtain permission from the country’s Defense Department. In 2018, the worst explosion occurred in the town of Tultepec, where 24 individuals lost their lives.
