Montreal police confirmed that a 30-year-old man was killed in an armed assault on the afternoon of Feb. 2. Responding to a 911 call about an injured person on a bike path near the riverbank in Montreal North, police found the man with at least one stab wound to his upper body. Although first responders tried to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene.
This incident marks Montreal’s fourth alleged homicide of 2024. Investigators suspect that the assault occurred during an altercation between the victim and another individual, but they are still working to determine a motive. As of the evening of Feb. 2, there have been no arrests, and investigators were preparing to meet with witnesses and review nearby surveillance footage.
