Mafia's arrogance portrayed in Montreal daylight murder - expert. 1

A woman named Claudia Iacono, who was the daughter-in-law of a reputed mob boss named Moreno Gallo, was shot and killed in broad daylight outside of her popular salon in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges district. The car Iacono was in was found still running and crashed into a nearby building. Retired Montreal police officer André Gélinas stated that it was unusual for an extended family member of a Mafia boss to be targeted, but explained that organized crime has no honor code. Another expert named Antonio Nicaso, who is an organized crime author and Queen’s University professor, added that it is not uncommon for the Mafia to even target women and children when they need to send a message. The investigation into Iacono’s murder is ongoing, and another unrelated homicide occurred in the north-end borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, bringing the total number of homicides in Montreal up to nine for the year.
