Internet regulation bill close to being passed, according to Liberal MP. 1

Bill C-11, also known as the Online Streaming Act, is coming close to being passed into Canadian law. The legislation will allow the Canadian government to regulate what content is available to Canadian viewers on streaming platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix, and will require these platforms to contribute to Canadian content rules. Although the bill’s objective is to promote authentic Canadian content for viewers, some critics have said the definition of Canadian content is poor, and the bill is too far-reaching. Now that the Senate has passed the bill back to the House of Commons with a number of amendments, the government is anticipating broad support for the legislation in the House, although conservatives remain opposed.
