Helicopter crash kills 5 in Northern Iraq. 1

A helicopter crash in northern Iraq resulted in the alleged deaths of at least five individuals, including militants belonging to an outlawed Kurdish insurgency group, as reported by the Iraqi Kurdish-run counterterrorism agency and the region’s president. The AS350 Eurocopter crashed in Chamanke district in Dohuk province on Wednesday night, carrying passengers belonging to the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK), according to the same source. The ownership of the helicopter is yet to be determined; however, both Iraq’s government and the U.S-led coalition have been contacted but denied any association with the crash. Furthermore, the PKK denied owning a helicopter and proposed that the onboard individuals are members of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), a Syrian Kurdish group allied with the U.S-led forces.
