Gender mania waning; positive signs emerging. 1

Commentary

The left is preoccupied with three utopian projects: environmentalism, racism, and gender identity. While climate and racism are of global concern, genuine gender dysphoria is quite rare. Nevertheless, trans activists have demanded special entitlements and pushed the boundaries of tolerance to the point that reasonable concerns for women’s and children’s rights have been growing. Fear of being labeled “transphobic” is decreasing, indicating that gender mania is waning.

Three recent events give hope for a return to reason. First, Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon resigned after a two-time rapist was allowed to transfer to a women’s prison. This episode exposed the absurdity of gender mysticism, prompting Sturgeon to “pause” her policy. Second, the New York Times exonerated writer J.K. Rowling after she was viciously condemned for stating that sex is dimorphic and immutable. Finally, Jamie Reed, a former counsellor at the Washington University Transgender Clinic, revealed that the clinic was sacrificing children’s health on the altar of gender mysticism. Her testimony has been welcomed in a more receptive climate.

It appears that the herd is beginning to recover its sanity. Now is the time for individuals to push for change.
