French Senate approves Macron's pension reform amid continued protests. 1

The French Senate approved President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform plan despite ongoing protests and Rolling strikes. The measure involves increasing the retirement age by two years to 64. The government argues that the changes are necessary to ensure the pension system remains financially viable. However, French workers have voiced their discontent with the plan, which they believe will negatively impact their livelihoods. The day before the Senate vote, 368,000 demonstrators took to the streets, far fewer than the one million authorities had anticipated. Despite the Senate vote, the outcome of the final vote in the lower house remains uncertain, and the government may have to resort to a 49:3 procedure to push the bill through.
