On January 5, a tragic house fire in Boisbriand, Que., resulted in the deaths of a 91-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman. The fire occurred in a Montreal suburb approximately 25 kilometres northwest of downtown. Later the same day, two other individuals lost their lives in a house fire in Rawdon, Que., a community located around 60 kilometres north of Montreal.
In Boisbriand, authorities received a call at 8:30 a.m. reporting smoke coming from a residence in a neighborhood west of the town center. After arriving on the scene, police and firefighters were alerted to the possibility that a man and a woman were inside the burning house. Despite being transported to the hospital, the two victims were pronounced dead.
The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire, with initial suspicions that it may have been linked to an electrical problem. In Rawdon, emergency services were summoned to a home around 1:30 a.m. after a fire was reported. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the fire had spread throughout the residence, ultimately resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
While provincial police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, they have confirmed that two people lived at the Rawdon residence. However, the bodies have yet to be formally identified.
