Two former Metropolitan Police officers have pleaded guilty to possession of thousands of child abuse images following a complex investigation, which was linked to a third officer who committed suicide to avoid charges. Jeremy Laxton and Jack Addis admitted their charges and will be sentenced later in the year. Richard Watkinson was the third officer under suspicion, found dead at his home the same day he was due to be charged with several counts, including conspiracy to distribute or show indecent images of children. Laxton and Addis’s content was described as some of the most serious by seasoned specialist investigators. The convictions followed a complex investigation by the Met, Police Scotland, and Lincolnshire Police.
