COVID origin search is still necessary, WHO chief insists. 1

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has stressed the importance of finding the origins of COVID-19, which has caused millions of fatalities worldwide. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that all hypotheses must be explored to prevent future outbreaks, and for the millions of individuals who died or suffer from long-term effects. The People’s Vaccine Alliance has called on world leaders to acknowledge mistakes made in the pandemic response and take corrective action, stating that sharing vaccines equitably could have saved around 1.3 million lives. China has still not shared essential data with independent investigators. FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed that it was likely that the COVID-19 pandemic originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and the CCP has been uncooperative with US efforts. The WHO has called for transparency from China and said that all hypotheses on the virus’s origins remain on the table until more data is obtained. The WHO received criticism for praising China’s transparency earlier in the pandemic.
