Is Canada trapped in a COVID-19 time loop where people are still being forced to get vaccinated or risk being denied life-saving services? The case of Sheila Annette Lewis, a woman diagnosed with a terminal illness who needs an organ transplant, highlights this issue. Despite the Chinese communist-controlled World Health Organization declaring the pandemic over, Canada’s healthcare system is demanding that Lewis receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This is purely a political decision, as the virus is no longer a major threat. It’s unfair that Lewis, who is healthy and has antibodies against the virus, has to go to the United States for a transplant after paying taxes to support the Canadian healthcare system. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, who has recognized the discrimination against the unvaccinated, should intervene. The fact that she sought a second opinion on the matter shows that politicians and bureaucrats are still enforcing outdated COVID-19 rules. This situation puts Lewis in a difficult financial position, as most Canadians cannot afford medical procedures in the United States. It’s time to acknowledge that the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine is debatable, especially considering cases of fully vaccinated individuals still contracting the virus. Despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau realizing that the unvaccinated pose no threat to Canada, the healthcare system in Alberta has yet to follow suit. Lewis having to seek healthcare in the United States is a failure on Canada’s part. Personally, I initially believed in the vaccine and its safety, but have experienced chronic pain in my elbows since taking it. There are many victims of vaccine mandates, but Lewis should not be one of them.
