Clashes as police try to arrest Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan. 1

Imran Khan, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, and the police clashed outside his residence when they attempted to arrest him for failing to appear in court on corruption charges. During the incident, police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd, while Khan’s supporters threw stones and petrol bombs. 20 policemen were injured, and several of Khan’s supporters were also hurt. The police were unsuccessful in their second attempt to arrest Khan in less than ten days. Legal action will be taken against those who obstructed the implementation of the court order regarding Khan’s arrest. Khan, who was accused of selling state gifts and concealing assets, posted a video on Twitter after the clashes, defying the arrest and calling on Pakistani people to fight for their rights. The arrest of Khan was deemed “unreasonable” by his close aide Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who said that Khan had been granted “protective bail” by a court. Khan has been protesting against his ouster from office last year and has been demanding snap elections, a demand rejected by his successor, Shehbaz Sharif.
