Bolsonaro talks patriotism and hope at CPAC. 1

The 38th President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, spoke at the Conservative Political Action Committee’s 2023 conference in Washington D.C., outlining his achievements as president and his future goals for Brazil. Despite the challenges of politics, Bolsonaro is grateful for his time as president and feels that his mission is not yet complete. He embarked on his presidential campaign after witnessing communists taking office in Brazil and travelled the country for four years to share his message of truth and fight against populism, communism, and corruption. During his time in office, he relaxed gun control regulations and never mandated COVID-19 vaccinations, citing the importance of personal liberties. Bolsonaro continues to fight for basic rights and push back against gender ideology, and sees private property as a pillar of democracy. He expressed confusion over losing the 2022 presidential election despite growing popularity and acknowledged the results of the 2020 United States presidential election later than other world leaders. Bolsonaro ended his speech by reaffirming his principles and loyalty to ‘God, homeland, family, and liberty.’
