Australian university students report dominance of intolerant leftist ideology on campus

Numerous Marxist posters from the “Socialist Alternative” group are spotted in public areas at top universities in Sydney, including the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the University of Technology Sydney, and Macquarie University, as well as around the city streets, despite university policies and councils’ regulations. A student expressed concerns over the socialists’ dominance in universities, claiming they are not tolerant of other people’s views. He revealed that the universities are not enforcing their own rules against the Marxist posters in non-designated areas and doubted if the socialists printing the posters at UNSW are students. However, a spokesperson from USYD explained that the university has designated noticeboards for students to post signs and posters, and they respect students’ right to express their views. The Socialist Alternative’s chapter in UNSW has been disaffiliated for not following the rules, and a professor at UNSW calls for diverse ideas to be discussed in universities. The councils confirmed that universities are not within their control, and unauthorised advertising material such as posters is not allowed in public areas.
