Following Azerbaijan’s lightning offensive last week, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proposed a land corridor linking several states in the region. Thousands of ethnic Armenians from Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region have fled to Armenia since the offensive, fearing persecution at the hands of Azerbaijani authorities. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed concern for the humanitarian situation and called for protection and freedom of movement for civilians, as well as unhindered humanitarian access to the region.
